Hello everyone!

Happy Holidays. I’m writing from the warmth of my room where piles of grading are manically laughing at me.

But I resisted their taunting to do a new podcast episode. Ha!

In this episode of the Keyframe Podcast, I’m talking about not only the Dallas launch of the book, The Opposite of Breathing is Cement, but also about something creatives do called refilling the well.

Refilling the Well, is the time period where the creative isn’t creating in the same way they usually do. So, for example, a painter can take up cooking or pottery, for a bit. It allows the creative to see things, including the creative process, differently. Being out of the element and out of what is familiar allows you as the creative to be a student again.

Also on the podcast is news about the Dallas launch of the book and how it went.

I also promised a writing prompt for you fellow creatives. So I have one from my book, “From the Beginning: More Writing Prompts to Get You Started” which was given out a while ago.

“It’s two hours to midnight on New Year’s Eve and your character hasn’t even gotten dressed. They’ve had an awful year and they just read on the Internet (because you can always believe it) that certain colors mean certain things. Example: Green means money, Red means love, etc. AND if a person wears the color in accordance to what they want their year to bring, it will be fruitful. Desperate, the character decides to dress in all that color but needs a complete of things. But the only thing open is Wal-Mart.

Write a scene about your character rushing to purchase the color that will bring them good luck. Remember to heighten the description.”

Documenting a life well lived, loved, and experienced. I’m just here to take notes and write pretty sentences, okay?
